The elements transferred from oral culture to the radio programs presented by minstrels

The minstrel tradition maintains its existence with a new execution environment today. The tradition, moved to a new dimension along with the technological developments, has adapted to the new environment and conditions. In this study, the programs presented by minstrels in the radio programs, which are one of the new performance environments, have been investigated. The recordings of the programs presented in the radio have been used as the resources along with the resources forming the theoretical framework of the study. The aim of the study is investigating the transfer of the oral culture elements into the electronic culture environment. The electronic culture environment has been considered with in the concept of "radio programs". In the light of these programs; there are also some other aims serving to the overall purpose such as identifying the representation and type of transfer of the tradition in the electronic culture environment, the way of change and transformation of tradition in the performance structure, the functions of the programs and examining the electronic performance structure. This study consists of introduction, three parts and texts. In the introduction part, the transfer of the Minstrelsy tradition into the electronic culture environment, which is the third culture environment, have been investigated and the related studies have been presented. In the first part, the performance environment of the minstrel tradition has been covered within the scope of "oral performance venues", "written performance venues" and "electronic performance venues". In addition, the structure of Anatolian minstrel tradition has been investigated in accordance with the regions and performance order. The second part has been built on the structure of radios, which is a new transmission environment, and minstrel programs presented in the radios. The transfer of the tradition in the radio programs has been discussed with a holistic approach by including the performance, performer, audience and venue all together. In the third part, some examples of oral culture elements, moved to the radio programs, have been given. In addition, the natural oral performance venues have been compared with the programs presented in the radios. According to the results obtained, the tradition, which is believed to be disappeared in the 21st century, still continues in the electronic performance environments. Nowadays, the minstrel tradition is being represented, produced and transferred by the radio programs. The sample texts, put into writing from the radio programs included in our study, are included at the end of the study.
