Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the health-related quality of life of students aged 14-18 in terms of different variables. For this purpose, a total of 448 students (260 Male, 188 Female) from different high schools in Gaziantep city center voluntarily participated in thestudy. In the research, participation motivation questionnaire and SF-36 quality of life scale were used as data collection tools. SPSS 22.0 statistical package program was used for the statistical analysis of the data obtained. For the normality distribution of the data, Skewness and Kurtosis values were checked and the distribution was found to be normal. Independent samples t-test and one-way anova test were used to examine the relationship between the data and demographic variables. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to look at the relationship between quality of work and motivation to participate.According to theresults of the research, there was no significant difference in the sub-dimensions of motivation to participate in terms of gender variable of the students in the 14-18 age group doing sports, but a significant difference was found in the sub-dimensions of quality of life, physical role, social function and general health. Interms of the variable of playing in the team, skill development, team spirit, friendship; Significant differences were found in the levels of physical function, mentalhealth and general health, which are sub-dimensions of quality of life. In terms of the branch variable, skill development, teamspirit, friendship, physical fitness, competition; A significant difference was found in the physical role, vitality, mentalhealth, social function and general health sub-dimensions of quality of life.Interms of starting sports variable, participation motivation sub-dimensions include skill development, teamspirit, entertainment, friendship, success, movement, physical fitness, competition; A significant difference was found in the levels of physical function, vitality, mental health, social function, bodily pain and general health, which are sub-dimensions of quality of life.Team spirit, friendship, competition; A significant difference was found in the levels of physical function, physical role, emotional role, vitality, mental health, social function, physical pain and general health, which are sub-dimensions of quality of life. As a result, it can be said that dealing with sports affects health-related quality of life in a good way. We can say that these effects increase the life satisfaction levels of adolescents. By directing adolescents to physical activities during this difficult adolescence transition period, their life satisfaction levels can be increased and it can be ensured that they overcome this process in a healthier way.
