A review on Tasvir-i Efkâr newspaper (Year: 1922, Issue: 3231 - 3590)

In this thesis, the 1922 issues (3231-3590) of Tasvir-i Efkâr newspaper were examined. The year 1922 is an extremely important year due to the political and social events. Tasvir-i Efkâr newspaper is an effective publication that supports the national liberation struggle under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha and conveys information and documents about the important issues of the period to its readers with great sensitivity. Ebüzziyazade Velid's signature is found throughout the editorial articles in the newspaper. In these articles, he wrote many intellectual and political articles, including the sensitivities of the National Struggle. Political conferences and meetings also have an important place in this period. In the newspaper, there is a detailed flow of information about the Cannes Conference, which was first held by the Allies in the first months of 1922, and then the Genoa Conference. Then, the important events that laid the foundation stones of the new Turkish Republic and that witnessed the Mudanya Armistice and the Lausanne Conference with the 30 August victory were conveyed to the reader as they were. Important information and documents about the events that developed with the decisions taken in these international meetings were reflected in the newspaper. The newspaper is an important resource for those working on these issues. Along with these developments, the abolition of the sultanate by the decision of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on November 1, 1922 was also one of the important political events that took place this year and took its place on the pages of the newspaper. On the other hand, the persecution and destruction of Greece, which has been trying to realize the dream of the Byzantine Empire, which it has established for years, with the support of Europe; The newspaper delivered the necessary information, documents and visuals to its readers. The newspaper provided a daily flow of information from the front in the National Struggle. He announced the victory of the 30 August Great Attack and the great victory of the Turkish Army to his readers with great excitement and enthusiasm. With this victory, the joy and reactions that developed at home and abroad, the fire, destruction and persecution of the Greek army in Izmir and its surroundings while escaping, brought to their pages. Tasvir-i Efkâr newspaper, in its publications in 1922, included literary, cultural, historical, religious and scientific issues as well as the political and social events of the period, and has a wide staff of writers. Information about which authors are in this large staff of writers can be seen in the section titled "Author Staff" of this study. In this study, the texts and visual materials in all the 1922 issues of the newspaper were shown in a detailed table and then classified according to all material types. Due to the text and visual material it contains, it is a source for the works of many valuable researchers. With this study, we are proud to save the 1922 publication year of Tasvir-i Efkâr newspaper, which has an important place among the old-letter Turkish periodicals, from the dusty shelves of libraries and to present it to the benefit of the scientific world.
