Özet (EN)
The research was conducted to evaluate the effect of technology based body safety education program on children's body safety awareness. The research was experimental type in pre-test and post-test design with randomized control group. The study was conducted in four schools selected by randomization. The four selected schools were assigned to the experimental and control groups by randomization. The study group consisted of 200 randomly selected 8-11 age group children 100 of which are in experimental and 100 in control group and of children who met the inclusion criteria. A website has been prepared for the Technology Based Body Safety Training Program. The education program, which was formed under four main headings, was supported with a game-based learning model to attract children's attention. Children in the experimental and control groups were first administered the Child Identification Form and the Personal Safety Awareness Scale for the pre-test. User names and passwords were assigned for the children in the experimental group to enter the website and they completed the Body Safety Training Program. Three weeks later, both the experimental and control groups were again given the Personal Safety Awareness Scale as a post test. Data were analyzed in a statistical package program. The children in the experimental and control groups were found to be homogeneous in terms of socio-demographic characteristics, status of obtaining information about body safety and sources of information (p> 0.005). The mean posttest score of the children in the experimental group (19.45 ± 0.90) was higher than the pretest score (17.69 ± 2.19), and this difference was found to be statistically significant (p <0.05) and in the control group, the difference between pre-test mean (17.75 ± 2.55) and posttest mean (17.45 ± 2.56) was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). The technology-based physical safety training program was found to be effective in increasing children's level of safety awareness. It is recommended that all children should benefit from the technology-based physical safety education program and that the program should be developed and implemented in different age groups.
