The effect of occupational health and safety practices on business efficiency of businesses operating in the textile sector: Bitlis case

The aim of this research is to examine the productivity of textile factory workers in Bitlis, which is one of the Eastern Anatolian provinces, in terms of compliance with occupational health and safety measures. Thus, the knowledge level of textile workers in Bitlis on personal measures against clouds on the horizon that they will encounter during textile production will be determined. In addition, whether the measures taken by the employers of the textile factory in Bitlis are sufficient or not and the effect on the productivity of the employees has been studied. A survey is created to measure the effect of training and information, personal measures and workplace measures on productivity. The data obtained in the research are analyzed with the SPSS program. As a result of the analysis, it has been seen that education and informing, personal measures and workplace measures affect productivity. Textile factories in Bitlis, whose number has started to increase rapidly in recent years, have many rough edges in terms of OHS. Although employers and employees think that they have knowledge about OHS, it has been observed that there is much to be done in this regard. It is thought that giving importance to in-service training on OHS, supplying and using the right equipment will prevent minor occupational accidents in the short term. It is clear that making OHS measures a work culture will prevent possible major accidents. With these measures decisions which are taken on OHS, there will be a positive effect on the productivity of the textile factory.
