The usage of dance as a theatrical element on the stagings of Grease Musical in Turkey

This thesis study begins with a focus of understanding the various effects of dance on humanity by elaborating the Grease musical stagings in Turkey with the concept of dance and an outlook on its existence functions, because the true understanding of this focus is intended for the perception of the concept 'dance as a theatrical element.' As we witness how dance touches our lives from past to today on the first part, it is brought together with theatre on the second part with the analyze of this historical union in consideration of researchs and data by acquiered resources. The third part is about musical type which brings dance and theatre together and a preparation step for 'Grease Musical' is built by drawing a way through the definitions of musicals, history of musicals and musical films. This part is also the part which worldwide famous musical films take us to the magical musical world and we recall some of them. The last part begins with a look on the conditions of the period in order to interpret the content of Grease Musical better. The plot, the characters and the songs have been analyzed in consideration of these periodical conditions. 'Dance as a theatrical element' is mentioned and this element is observed through the stagings in Turkey. All the internet based resources have been scanned and reference musical recordings have been watched and analyzed during the research.
