Medical academicians's information search behavior and current trends: Case of Dokuz Eylul University

In traditional medical practice, physicians made decisions based on their professional experience. Today, Evidence-Based Medicine have been replaced on these practices. In this direction, the subject of this study has been identified to investigate the information seeking behaviors of medical academicians and to determine the current trends. This study is shaped around medical academisions's information search behavior and status of medical librarianship in Turkey. The aim of the study is to examine the information searching behavior of medical academicians. Another purpose of the study is to determine the services of medical libraries and the demands of medical academicians. In addition, to make suggestions for improving library services with examples from world and Turkey medical libraries. In this study, interview technique was applied from qualitative research methods. The obtained data were analyzed with the MAXQDA qualitative data analysis software. As a result, It has been determined that medical academicians prefer modern methods for searching information. Also, Of medical librarianship in Turkey it was determined to be at the not desired level by the conditions of medical librarianship has determined.
