Mobbing among resident medical doctors, related factors and theirresults; Sample of Bursa Uludağ University

This study aimed to determine the frequency of mobbing, related factors, and the relationship between mobbing and musculoskeletal disorders among resident doctors of Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine. In our cross-sectional study, 396 physicians were asked to complete a questionnaire (94.7% participation rate). 49% of the participants are women and 51% are men. The average age of the participants is 28.94 ± 2.675; the median of their age is 29.00 (minimum: 24.0 maximum: 45.0) years. The average time spent as a resident doctor is 23.60 ± 14.736; the median time spent as a resident doctor is 20.0 (minimum: 6.0 maximum: 60.0) months. 63.4% of the participants (n = 251) were doing residency in internal medicine, 34.1% (n = 135) in surgical medicine, and 2.5% (n = 10) in basic medical sciences. Results revealed that 63.4% (n = 251) of the participants were subjected to mobbing. The incidence of musculoskeletal discomforts in participants was determined to be 66.9. Participants who had been subjected to mobbing experienced neck pain 2.618 (95% Confidence Interval: 1.103- 6.215) times more, shoulder pain 2.221 (95% Confidence Interval: 1.361- 3.624) times more, back pain 1.846 (95% Confidence Interval1.121-3.043), lower back pain 1.725 (95% Confidence Interval: 1.054-2.821) times more, and musculoskeletal pain in any part of the body 1.687 (95% Confidence Interval: 1.049-2.711) times more compared to participants who had not been subjected to mobbing.
