Comparison of health tourism activities of Türkiye and India

Health tourism, which has become one of the rapidly developing sectors in our age after traditional tourism, has emerged as a result of the development of communication and transportation in the world, the increase in the desire of individuals to spend their time efficiently, and the desire to be both holiday and treatment. Health tourism is expressed as the event of receiving different health services by changing the place of individuals for a certain period of time in order to protect and improve health. As a result of the inclusion of developing countries in the race for health tourism, competition has increased and the race to attract health tourists has accelerated. The increasing number of tourists provides new economic gains in countries. The main purpose of this thesis study is to comparatively examine the countries of Turkey and India in terms of health tourism. For this purpose, the SWOT analysis method was preferred. As a result of the study, it is understood that the concept of health tourism and the term medical tourism have different meanings in Turkey and India health tourism. When medical tourism is mentioned, a broader perspective comes to mind. In the international literature, more information is given in the field of health tourism. The successes, strengths, and weaknesses of Turkey and India in different criteria in the health sector and tourism are analyzed. According to the results obtained from the study, besides having many advantages in terms of health tourism, Turkey has not yet reached the desired position in this field.
