Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine Turkey's terms of trade during the period 2000-2023. Terms of trade are an important indicator that determines the efficiency and economic sustainability of trade by reflecting the relationship between a country's import and export prices. In this context, analyzing the change in Turkey's terms of trade over time will provide important information about the country's economic performance. The study was shaped through analyzes made using the EViews econometrics program. The analysis was based on various econometric models to measure the change in Turkey's terms of trade over the years. In these models, the relations between import and export prices, economic factors and the general structure of foreign trade are taken into consideration. The effects of exchange rate changes, inflation and global economic conditions on the terms of trade are also discussed in detail. The main analysis tools used in the study are regression analysis and time series analysis, which aim to clarify the determining factors of the terms of foreign trade and the relationships of these factors with each other. In particular, it focused on important factors such as the integration of Turkey's foreign trade with global trade, the impact of local economic policies on the terms of trade and the long-term sustainability of foreign trade. It has been found that Turkey's terms of trade are greatly affected by external factors such as exchange rates, energy prices and global economic crises, as well as import and export prices. It has been demonstrated that imbalances in the foreign trade of the Turkish economy may have long-term effects on economic growth and external debt management.
