The perception of Islam in Turkish novel of nation building process (1930-1934)

Literature, which is immanent in all areas of social life, takes everything about man as a subject in its own fiction world and gains a magical reality that affects the reader's emotion and thought universe. Especially the genre of novel is so intertwined with the human being, it has made it easier to address the reader. For this reason, the influence power of novels has been used by the powers from time to time as a socio-cultural tool in changing and transforming the traditional codes of the people. Throughout history, when the new cultural identities and traditions are planned to be built in the nation-state processes of societies, the functionality of the novels has been increased. Most of the time, the authors, encouraged by the government with financial support, have written works that will give direction to the new human consciousness. Thus, various canons of literature were created by authoritarian forces. The Anatolian-Muslim-Turkish identity was also influenced by the global storms that shaken the socio-economic and cultural life - even the psychological world - of modernism, positivism, industrialization, and nationalization, which have been influential since the beginning of the Westernization efforts in the Ottoman Empire. In the national identity designed for the new nation-state founded after the War of Independence, the secular elements of these thought movements played important roles. Within the scope of the targeted aims, with the reforms implemented in the social life, Turkish society started to get away from the traditional-cultural codes by attracting the modernization under the leadership of the intellectuals. In this context, the process of nationalization between the years 1930-1934 Turkish novels, social and cultural projects implemented in social life as a tool used in the construction of how effective; The reasons in the encouraged or displaced expressions of the impact of the new life offered to the society on religious practices will be tried to be determined by discourse analysis technique.
