The effect of the web based disrtance learnings systems on students success, retention of the learnings and attitudes towards the computer

The aim of the this study? to designate the effect of the web based distancelearning systems (web based instruction, web assisted instruction) on students success,retention of the learnings and attitudes towards the Computer to the lesson of Data andCommunication Technologies, in high school. Because of this general purpose, aresearch on 1st class students has been carried out.The experimental pattern of the research is based on first ? test and last ? testcontrol group model. Samples of the research have been formed on 94 students, and itcontains two test groups and one control group. In the aim of teaching the subject`formula bar and function wizard? that in the unit of Calculation Table module,Connection and knowledge Technologies Lessons are taught to 1st Test Group by usingWeb assisted instruction, to 2nd Test Group by using Web Based Training and toControl Group by using Traditional Training material.A success rate test is prepared to measure the success is applied as first ? testand last ? test to the students. From the results of success test statistical comparisonsare carried out?· Web Assisted Training was applied first experiment group?s achievement wassignificantly high according to Control Group. As a result, Web AssistedEducation is more effective on achievement.· Web Assisted Education was applied first experiment group?s on retention of thelearnings score was significantly high according to both Web Based Educationwas applied second experiment group and Control Group. As a result, WebAssisted Education is more effective on retention of the learnings.A attitude rate scale is prepared to measure the attitude towards Computer isapplied at the beginning of the experimental application and at the end of theexperimental application. From the results of attitude scale statistical comparisons arecarried out?· Web Based Training was applied second experiment group?s points of attitudescale were significantly high according to Control Group. As a result, WebBased Education is more effective on attitude.· Web assisted education was applied first experiment group?s points of attitudescale didn?t create meaningful difference.
