Abstract (EN)

Sexuality is a very important part of humanity. The studies to be carried out in this field are important in terms of contributing to the literature and guiding the studies in the clinical field. In the first stage of this study, it was tried to determine the variables that may be related to the subject. When the literature is examined, it is seen that narcissism and early psychological traumas have significant effects on individuals' close relationships. However, the number of studies examining the relationship between these variables and sexual attitudes and behaviors is very limited. For this reason, the scales were determined in accordance with the purpose of the study: Five Factor Narcissism Scale, Childhood Traumatic Experiences Scale, Relationship Satisfaction Scale, Sexual Risk Taking Scale, Sexual Attitude Scale and Sexual Excitement Search Scale. The above-mentioned scales were applied to 350 people online. 260 of the 350 people reported that they had previously had sexual intercourse; 90 people reported that they have not yet had sexual intercourse. Analyzes of the data of these individuals were also performed. The data were analyzed by SPSS 22 package program. The independent groups T test was used in accordance with the research questions and the non-parametric equivalent (Mann-Whitney-U) of the test was used for the scales that were not distributed normally. Finally, Pearson Correlation Analysis was performed to examine the relationships among all variables. As a result of the analysis, it was found that fragile and grandiose narcissism, one of the sub-dimensions of narcissism, was related to sexual attitudes and behaviors. Similarly, sexual abuse, one of the sub-dimensions of trauma, was associated with sexual risk and sexual excitement seeking behavior. Emotional abuse was found to be associated only with sexual risk behavior. Relationship satisfaction was negatively and positively related to sexual attitudes and behaviors. The findings are discussed in the light of the literature in the last section. Keywords: Sexuality, Narcissism, Childhood Mental Trauma, Relationship Satisfaction
