Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between sexual satisfaction in adults and attachment styles and self-compassion. The study investigates the relationships between participants' ages, types of relationships, durations of relationships, and parental attitudes with sexual satisfaction, self-compassion, and attachment style. Additionally, the relationships between sexual satisfaction attitudes, levels of self-compassion, and types of relationships were explored. The sample of the study consists of individuals aged 18-65 living in Turkey. The Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, and Relationship Scales Questionnaire were used to collect data. The data collection process was conducted between June 2023 and May 2024 using a convenience sampling method, reaching 257 participants. Spearman Correlation Analysis was applied to test the research hypotheses and to examine the relationships between variables. Significance levels for the correlation analyses were set at 0.01 and 0.05. Additionally, independent sample Mann-Whitney U tests were used for binary group comparisons, and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for comparing variables with more than two groups. Significant differences found in the one-way variance analysis (Kruskal-Wallis) were further examined using the Mann-Whitney U test. The study found that relationship duration is a significant factor in sexual satisfaction when examining the relationship between sexual satisfaction, attachment, self-compassion, and relationship duration. A significant relationship was identified between avoidance in male sexual satisfaction and types of relationships when examining the relationship between sexual satisfaction, attachment, self-compassion, and types of relationships. A significant relationship was found between self-compassion and parental attitudes when examining the relationship between sexual satisfaction, attachment, self-compassion, and parental attitudes. The study revealed a positive strong relationship between sexual satisfaction and attachment, while no positive relationship was found between self-compassion and sexual satisfaction as predicted. A positive relationship was identified between attachment and self-compassion. Keywords: Attachment, Attachment Styles, Self-Compassion, Sexuality, Sexual Satisfaction
