Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between romantic relationships and depression. In the study, the impact of gender, age, educational level, marital status, family structure, level of income and hometown of the subjects on their romantic relationships and level of depression are investigated. Totally 100 people (50 women, 50 men) who live in İstanbul Beşiktaş participated in study. For the means of data collection, Beck Depression Scale, Multi-dimensional Relationship Scale and a Personal Information Form prepared by the investigator were used. At the end of this study, it is observed that the gender has a statistically significant relationship with depression but age, marital status, hometown, educational level, family structure, and level of income do not have a significant relationship with depression. In terms of the impact of the subjects socio-demographic features on their romantic relationships; it is found that the educational level, hometown and family structure have an impact on depression but the gender, age, marital status, level of income do not have an impact on depression. For the last, it is determined that there is a significant relationship between the total scores of Beck Depression Scale and Multi-dimensional Relationship Scale.
