Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to compare the values of speed, agility, quickness, balance and power exercises applied to young basketball players in athletes who continue active sports during the pandemic period and those who do not. The study included 18 licensed basketball players in the 14-16 age group who continued their medium-intensity basketball technical-tactical training 3 days a week, and 18 licensed basketball players in the same age group who interrupted their training during the pandemic process, either by their family or by themselves. 20 meters speed, vertical jump, pro agility, flamingo balance test, shooting performance test, sit and reach test and claw strength tests were applied to the athletes and the results were evaluated. SPSS 25.0 program was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study. Descriptive statistics were used. Due to the small number of participants, Non-Parametric tests were used in the statistical analysis of the data. Kruskal Wallis-H and Mann Whitney-U tests were applied to determine the differences between the groups. The significance level of 0.05 was accepted in the determination of the differences between the variables in statistical procedures. According to the results of the study, when the descriptive statistics table of the groups that train and do not train during the pandemic process is examined; It was understood that the age ranges of both groups were similar except for the differences of a few months. It was determined that the mean and standard deviation values of both groups were similar. When the experience periods of the groups are examined, it is understood that the training group has an advantage of 2 years in minimum and maximum experience. While the average height of the training and non-training groups were similar; It was determined that the maximum weight (6 kg) of the group that did not train on average body weights was higher. The group that trained in 20m running times was in better condition than the group that did not train; Again, it was understood that the agility test values of the training group were in a better condition than the non-training group, and the training group was in a better condition than the non-training group in the flamingo test values. According to the vertical jump averages, while the training group is in good condition at minimum jump; In the maximum jump, it was determined that the group that did not train was in good condition. It was understood that the group that trained at vertical jump peak power hr values was in better condition than the group that did not train. It was understood that the situation of the group that trained in sit and reach values was better than the group that did not train. In terms of paw values, it was understood that the training group was in a better condition than the non-training group. Although the minimum value of the training group is low in the shooting performance values, it is understood that the group that does not train has a clear advantage. Regular physical activities are of great importance for the development of children. Studies in this area show that there are differences between children who take part in regular physical activities or who are athletes and those who do not participate in these activities. Key Words : Basketball, Pandemic, Covid-19, Speed, Agility, Vertical Jump.
