Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to point out the reflections on the local press in Elazığ of the Democratic Party -which was crucial in the transition to a multi- party system in our political history during the period between 1950-1960-, and to determine the relations of the Democratic Party with the press. This study has been carried out with this aim, and it highlights the activities of the party related with both the province of Elazığ and the region.This study was done by scanning the important local newspapers between 1950-1960 in Elazığ. Results derived from the prominent newspapers in the region like: Uluova, Turan, and Elazığ were analyzed. The frame of research constituted of the local newspapers edited in Elazığ, news about the Democrat Party, ads, press releases, and comments of the researcher. The newspapers which existed during the time of the Democrat Party were examined and fell under the extend of the study, and about 1200 news and documents related with the Democratic Party were encountered.This thesis study consists of two parts. The first part has been examined with the title ?The National Leader İnönü and Contentions?, and the second part was examined with the title ?The Democratic party Government and Domestic Policies?.Comments on data derived from scanned archives were done within the extend of the research, and the events were chronologically examined.Keywords: Adnan Menderes, Democrat Party, Elazığ, Elazığ Newspaper, İsmet İnönü, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turan, Uluova.
