Abstract (EN)

The pre-school period is a critical period in which children's personality development, attitudes, habits and learning are laid and their achievements will have a lifelong impact. For this reason, it is the best time to develop awareness of sustainability, provide environmental awareness and create a culture of universality. Learning in preschool children is supported by many different materials and methods. As much as the materials to be presented to preschool children are durable, reliable and suitable for health; It is expected to serve a certain purpose or gain, to be accessible and economical by everyone, to be instructive while entertaining, to have new experiences while establishing a bond with his old experiences and his immediate surroundings. Since picture story books are a material that all children can access, they appear as one of the most used materials in preschool children. The books offered to children should have some criteria in terms of internal and external structure features. Since the aim of the study is to determine whether there are global goals of sustainability in picture story books for children aged 3-6, if so, which global goals are, how and how often; descriptive analysis was made in the phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods. Since phenomenology is an effort to make a universal explanation by revealing the way a group or a few people describe and interpret these perceptions about a certain phenomenon, this design was preferred in the research. The universe of the research consists of picture story books for 3-6 years old published between 2010-2022. In determining the sample, hundreds of books in Gaziantep Municipality Children's Library, Adana Provincial Public Library Children's Department and the researcher's own library were scanned; Criterion sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used. In the criterion sampling method, all data supporting the predetermined criteria constitute the sample group. In the research, 363 books were examined, it was determined that 85 of these books included the global goals of sustainability, and 255 books did not include the global goals of sustainability. In 85 books, which include the global goals of sustainability, how and what goals are included in it were examined with the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research methods.
