The effect of medical drug reminder mobile application on treatment compliance in women with breast cancer under adjuvant hormone treatment

This study was planned as a prospective, simple randomized quasi-experimental study with pretest posttest control groups, in order to examine the effect of a nurse-led medical drug reminder mobile application on adherence to treatment in women diagnised as breast cancer receiving adjuvant hormone therapy. This study was conducted with a total of 52 women with breast cancer receiving adjuvant hormone therapy, 26 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group. The medical drug alarm mobile application developed by the researchers was used by the experimental group to determine its effect on adherence to treatment. Personal Information Form and Medication Adherence/Compliance Self-Efficacy Scale (MASES) were used to collect data. After the first data of the experimental and control groups were collected, the experimental group used the "Medical Drug Alarm" mobile application for 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 weeks period, MASES was applied to both groups once again. According to the data of the study, when the pre-test post-test confidence scores of the experimental group were examined. A statistically significant difference was found between the pretest and posttest MASES total scores of the experimental group (p<0.05). It was determined that the post-test MASES total scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than the pre-test. It was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of post-test MASES total scores (p<0.05). In line with these results, we concluded that the "Medical Drug Alert Mobile Application" was an effective tool in increasing treatment compliance.
