Abstract (EN)

The fact that Abû Tâlib, one of the important figures in the Islamic history, did not profess his faith publicly caused a controversy as to whether he died as a polytheist. While the majority of Ahl as-Sunnah scholars thought that he died as a polytheist, Shia and some Ahl al-Sunnah scholars claimed that he died as a Muslim. The Ottoman scholar Ahmed Feyzî Çorûmî (1253/1839-1327/1909) opposed the widespread opinion among the Ahl al-Sunnah about Abû Tâlib's faith by writing a book titled Fayḍ al-Vâhib fî Najâti Abî Ṭâlib. This work, in which Ahmed Feyzî, who wrote works as a refutation of Shia on the one hand, and defends Abû Tâlib's faith on the other, stands in a very remarkable place in terms of the historical course of the discussion. This study includes Fayḍ al-Vâhib's transcription text and its evaluation in the context of discussions about Abû Tâlib's faith. Keywords: Fayḍ al-Vâhib, Ahmed Feyzî Çorûmî, Abû Tâlib, Shia, Ahl al-Sunnah, Faith.
