Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the level of hopelessness of lung cancer patients and the effect of disease perception on coping with the disease. Questionnaire technique was used as a method of data collection. The questionnaire was applied to lung cancer patients in Istanbul, İstanbul and İstanbul Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Hospital Thoracic Surgery Department. Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was found to be 0.88. Besides, it was found that the expressions included in the Coping Strategies scale had a reliability of 0.78. In the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the application, the effects of independent variables on the dependent variable; In addition, Independent Sample T-Test and One-Way Variance (ANOVA) Test were used to compare the mean scores of the different groups. The Tukey test was used to determine which groups were the source of the difference. In the study, the correlation analysis which shows the direction of the relations of the dimensions with each other is included. In addition to this, regression analysis which shows the effect of independent variables on dependent variables is given. As a result of the study, it was found that there was not a significant relationship between the BHS and denial and the self-limitation score. Again, it was found that there was a positive correlation between BHS and acceptance and the turn to religion scores. In the study, it was also determined that the total score of the CSL was predicted negatively by the total score of the BHS and the Values Scale. Finally, it was observed that there was no significant difference between the participants' BOLT total score and gender, number of siblings and marital status. Finally, it was observed that there was no significant difference between the participants' BHS total score and gender, number of siblings and marital status.
