Abstract (EN)

2. ABSTRACT Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether there is a difference in knowledge of risk factors for cardiovascular disease, compliance with drug therapy, dietary compliance and beliefs about individual follow-up among patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with and without planned discharge training as experimentally randomized controlled. Material and Methods: The study sample consisted of 100 patients who underwent coronary intensive care unit and cardiology service between September 2016 and December 2017 who met the sample selection criteria and volunteered to participate in the study. The patients were divided into two groups according to random sampling method: interventions (n=50) and control (n=50) groups. Planned discharge training was given to the intervention group. In both groups, two interviews were conducted one month apart. The data were collected by using the Patient Information Form, The Beliefs about Compliance to Drug Scale (BACDS), Beliefs about Diet Compliance Scale (BADCS) and Beliefs on Individual Follow-Up Scale (BIFS) and Cardiovascular Diseases Risk Factors Knowledge Level (CARRIF-NL) Scale. Results: In the first interview; BACDS, BADCS, BIFS benefit and disability subscale scores and CARRF-BD were similar in the intervention and control groups. In the second interview; in the intervention group, according to the control group, it was found that BACDS's utility sub-dimension scores increased while the obstacle sub-dimension scores decreased, the BADCS's utility sub-dimension scores were higher, the BIFS's utility sub-dimension scores increased while the obstacle sub-dimension scores decreased and KARRIF-BD increased. Conclusions: According to this; the planned discharge training given to patients with AMI positively affects the level of knowledge of cardiovascular diseases risk factors, compliance with drug treatment, diet compliance and beliefs about individual follow-up. Key Words: Acute myocardial infarction, discharge training, compliance to drug, compliance to diet, KARRİF-BD.
