Health promoting lifestyle behaviors of healthcare personnel working in the operating theatre and determination of the related factors

This study was carried out as a descriptive research in order to determine the health promoting lifestyle behaviors of healthcare personnel working in the operating theatre and the related factors. The population of the study has consisted of 350 healthcare personnel working in the operating theatre at university hospital in Ankara. The sample has been completed with 300 healthcare personnel who accepted to participate in the study. In this study, HLSBS II (Healthy Life Style Behavior Scale), Sociodemographic data form, developed in line with the literatüre were used as data collection tool in order to determine the descriptive characteristics of healthcare personnel. In the data evaluation, Independent sample T test was used to examine the difference between categorical variables with two groups, but if the number of group was more than two, One Way Anova Test was used. Cronbach's Alpha value was used for scale reliability. According to the results of our study, total mean scores of HLSBS II regarding the healthcare personnel working in the operating theatre were 122.49±19.30. There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of HLSBS II and the variables of age, gender, working style, nutritional status, exercise status and healt status (p<0.05). In line with the results of the study, it was determined that the healthy lifestyle behaviors of the healthcare personnel working in the operating theatre were moderate.
