Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the present study is to examine the effect of the 8 week of group study conducted with mothers on the adolescents' online gaming proble, subjective well-being, and relationship with their mothers. The sample group of the study consists of 36 mothers and 36 adolescents. The mothers are between 30-54 years old and the adolescents are 13-14 years old. There are 18 mothers and 18 adolescents in both the experimental and control groups, and the research was carried out using a 2x3 mixed factorial quasi-experimental design. The data of the study were collected by using the Demographic Information Form, the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale, the Adolescent Subjective Well-Being Scale, and the Parent's Communication with the Child Scale. The t-test was used in paired samples in the comparisons between two paired groups of continuous variable averages with normal distribution. The student's t-test was used in independent group comparisons in order to statistically interpret the information obtained from the participants of the study. The findings of the study revealed that there was no statistically significant change among the children of the mothers who participated in the group study regarding the pre-test, post-test, and monitoring test scores for the internet gaming disorder, subjective well-being, and the mother-child communication. There was also no statistically significant difference in the pre-test, post-test, and monitoring test scores of internet gaming disorder, subjective well-being, and the mother-child communication when the experimental and control groups were compared. All the results of the study were discussed within the scope of the relevant literature.
