Abstract (EN)

The hepatitis B virus infects the liver; it can cause a potentially fatal infection (HBV). An enormous public health issue. It can lead to chronic liver disease and illness, increasing the risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. This study aims to assess the knowledge of nurses' about hepatitis B vaccination at Al-Diwaniyah teaching Hospital, to find the relationship between demographic data and nurses' knowledge about hepatitis B disease and vaccination at Al-Diwaniyah teaching Hospital, and to assess the understanding of nurses' about hepatitis B disease at Al-Diwaniyah teaching Hospital. A descriptive design study was conducted at Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital. The study population was selected among nurses of a Diwaniyah teaching hospital. A total of 200 nurses were included in the study. Data was collected by using a self-administered questionnaire. The study included 200 nurses aged 20 to 29 (32%). Male nurses outnumber female nurses by more than half (53%). Nurses were married and comprised most of the study sample (59%). At the same time, only 34% have less than five years of nursing experience. Finally, most participants (60.5%) did not attend training courses. The findings show that 61% of nurses do not know about hepatitis B. Then those who said yes (33%) and those who said no (6%). The findings show that most nurses (78%) did not know the Hepatitis B vaccine, followed by those who said yes (12.5%). And who said no (9.5%).
