Abstract (EN)
The period known as the Baroque Age involves the 17th and 18th centuries. In the European baroque music scene, the instrument which known as viola d'amore (viola of love) was very popular. It is known that it started to be seen in Ottoman court music in the middle of 18th century. The purpose of this study is to organologically research the origin, performers, composers of the sine keman which belongs to European originated viol family. Stringed instruments have many improvements in centuries, of whom the roots are in India, the Middle East, Central Asia and Turkey. These instruments analized as ravanastron, ıklığ, rebap, rebec, ayaklı keman, lira de braccio and fidel. Sine keman is known as an instrument from viol family. They differ due to their characteristics and their way of playing. In this thesis, differences were investigated and viol group instruments were given in order of; treble viola da gamba, tenor viola da gamba, viola da gamba, bass viola da gamba, viola da bastarde, baryton (viola di bordone) and viola da braccio. We make important inquiries about the Ottoman and Orient music, used instruments and sine keman under the light of the books such as observations, memoirs and ravel records of the foreign musicologists who have the opportunity to come to the Ottoman Empire due to their duties in the palace or travels, likewise, we have an opinion about construction, measurements, wires and tuning of the sine keman, which is the subject of many of these instruments and our thesis. In Europe, the violin, known as viola da amore, continues to be used there without any disconnection and is an indispensable instrument of Baroque orchestras. However, this instrument which is known that it was known to be played in the palace by the violinist Corci (1680? -1765?) for the first time, it has been very popular for three centuries and it continued its popularity, it has lost its charm and forgotten after these years. One of the most important factors in the selection of this thesis topic is to recover, endear and introduce the almost forgotten violin to the young generations.
