Abstract (EN)
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of glutaraldehyde, peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, K. pneumoniae and E. faecalis biofilm layer microbial cell and extracellular polymeric substance. Material and Methods: Standard strains of P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, K. pneumoniae and E. faecalis were obtained from the manufacturer. Glutaraldehyde, peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite were diluted in suitable solutions as disinfectants. Then, biofilm forming capacity of strains, antimicrobial susceptibility of waters to disinfectants, biofilm and disinfectant tests were carried out. Results: In terms of biofilm capacity findings, it was determined that the strongest bacteria were P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae, E. faecalis produced moderate biofilm capacity and S. aureus created weak biofilm capacity. It was determined that H2O2 was not effective on P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae biofilm, IUPAC provided a moderate reduction in biofilm, and PAA showed similar activity by providing a moderate reduction. NaClO was found to be the most effective disinfectant by providing a high reduction in the biofilm layer. It was observed that disinfectants had no effect after 30 minutes. It was observed that all disinfectants were effective on the biofilm layer of S. aureus and E. faecalis. Conclution: As a result of the study, it was seen that the most effective disinfectants were H2O2 and % NaClO with a high decrease in the 60th minute. IUPAC, on the other hand, provided moderate reduction at 60 minutes. The least effective disinfectant was found to be PAA.
