A review on the Çitlembik children's magazine

Besides children's periodicals aim to educate children, they are a genre that is highly preferred among children's literature products by young readers in terms of having an entertaining function. Considering the importance of child education and the knowledge, behavior and values that should be gained in this period the works created for children should be carefully examined and evaluated. The new literatures to be created for young readers should be created taking consider those examinations so this will lead to gain so many valuable content yo young reader literature. The aim of this research is to examine the children's magazine named "Çitlembik", the monthly supplement of Elele women's magazine for children, in terms of the features that children's literature products should have, the contribution of the magazine to children's education, values education and the structural features that should be in children's periodicals. The sample of the study, in which the descriptive research model, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used, consists of 39 issues of the children's magazine "Çitlembik", which was published by Elele women's magazine between 1976-1980. In the study, the texts in the journal were classified according to the type of text. The values that should be taught to children in the classified texts were examined and determined on the basis of the values in the Turkish curriculum. The issues of the magazine were evaluated in terms of structural features, size, paper, page layout, letters, pictures, cover and binding; In the term of the content, the theme, subject, style and language were evaluated in terms of expression. According to the result obtained from the research, it was determined that the examined journal was suitable for children in general. Within the framework of the obtained results, some suggestions were presented.
