A review of trial books for chidren

In this study, essay books written for children in Turkish Literature are discussed. Within the scope of the research, 12 essay books written for children and recommended in field resources were determined. In addition to these trial books, 6 trial books were identified as a result of the literature review. Thus, the material of the study consists of 18 essay books (Hop Çilili Çilili , Vay Canına , Yazı Defteri , Kim Duma Kim Kime ,Aşk Olsun Çocuğum Aşk Olsun, Eyvah Kitap , Göğe Çizilmiş Resimler ,40 Hazine, Bir Miyav İki Hav Hav , Gazoz Kapağı, Tepemde Eşekarısı Gibi Vızıldayıp Durma, Temel Reis Ispanağı Yoğurtsuz Yer , Çocuklar Ve Bir Gün, Başparmak Çocuklar, Stephen Hawking Herkül'ü Döver, Aritmetik İyi Kuşlar Pekiyi, Zamanın Şarkısı Çocuk Dürbünüyle Denemeler , Aklımda Tuhaf Sorular). Document analysis was used in the examination of trial books. The essays of Yalçın and Aytaş (2017), which constitute the study material, were examined based on the qualifications to be sought in the essays written or recommended for children. The obtained information was summarized and interpreted with the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the essay, which is one of the literary genres, does not have the necessary importance. The fact that the type of essay was not mentioned in the literature review, except for a few field authors, also supports this result. In addition, it has been concluded that there are few works related to the essay genre in children's literature. It is thought that this research will fill the gap in the field and lead to new researches. In addition, this study is seen as a proof that the essay type, which is one of the informative texts, is essential for children as well as adults.
