Components and principles of exercise interventions in childhood cancer: The delphi survey

Bilazer, S., Components and Principles of Exercise Interventions in Childhood Cancers: Delphi Questionnaire, Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Health Sciences, In present study, it was aimed to create a guide on the planning and management of exercise intervations in childhood cancer. Experts with at least 5 years of experience in the field of Oncological Rehabilitation in the Oncological Rehabilitation sub-study group of the Turkish Physiotherapists association were included in the study. 14 experts werw invited to the study and 10 experts agreed to participate in this study. The avegare value of the working period of the experts participating in the study is 9,2  2,61 years . %80 of the participants werw female and academic. Delphi tecnique, which enable experts to reach a consensus for problem solving without being influenced by each other, was applied in 3 rounds in our study. İn the first round of the delphi tecnique, 6 open-ended questions created by identifying the issues that did not reach a consensus wew sent to the experts via Google forms. İn line with the anwers received, 101 questions were created under 7 heading and asked to the participants in the second and third rounds using a seven-point likert scale. İn the third round, the questionnaire items were asked to be re-evaluated by adding their median values. In this direction, there is a consensus that all 101 items should be included in the guide as a result of third round. In the second round of the study, 88 of 101 items had mean value 5 or more. In the third round, the mean value of 82 items was 5 and above. The results of the study presented a guide consisting of the content, aims, principles of exercise interventions in childhood cancers, the duration of hospital stay of the child and the effects of dischange process on treatments. Comprehensive strategies can be developed to evaluate the clinical conditions of children with cancer, and treatment protocols can be created accordingly.
