Determining the quality of life of nurses providing care to COVİD-19 patients

This study was done to determine the quality of life of nurses providing care to Covid-19 patients. The study data were collected in a hospital of the Turkish Ministry of Health in Ankara between the dates of 15.05.2021- 15.12.2021. These data were collected using Google form in accordance with the Covid-19 safety measures. This descriptive study was conducted in 284 nurses providing care to Covid-19 patients. Abbreviated Turkish Version of the Quality of Life Scale of the World Health Organization was used during the data collection stage to assess the quality of life of nurses. The data were entered in a statistical package program to be reviewed. Number, percentage, t test, one way analysis of variance were used for statistical evaluation and Levene test, Tamhan's T2 test, Bonferroni test and Pearson Correlation analysis were used for homogeneity of variance. The Cronbach's alpha value was used to determine the scale reliability. Significance level was set at p<0.05. In this study, sixty eight point seven percent of the nurses were working in ICUs, 26.3% provided care to 1-2 patients in their shifts and 58.8% were working 49 hours of more in a week. Additionally, a significant difference was found between the Abbreviated Turkish Version of the Quality of Life Scale of the World Health Organization dimension scores of the nurses based on age, gender, having children and alcohol use (p<0.05). According to the findings of the study, a statistically significant positive relationship was found betweent he general health condition, physical health, psychological, social relationships and environmental dimension mean scores.
