The effect of spiritual situations on quality of life in COVİD-19 outbreak process of pregnant woman

Abstract (EN)
Objective: This research was carried out with the aim of examining the effect of the spiritual state of pregnant women on the quality of life during the Covid-19 epidemic process. Material and Methods: The study was carried out with 445 pregnant women who applied to İzmir Tire State Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic between March 2021 and June 2022, analytically and cross sectionally. Data were collected using the Pregnant Identification Form, Spiritual Well-Being Scale and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale. In the analysis of the data, number, percentage, mean, standard deviations were calculated and Mann Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman correlation analysis was performed. Results: The mean score of the pregnant women from the Spiritual Well-Being Scale is 119.80±20.94. The mean scores of the sub-domains of the Quality of Life Scale were determined as 12.06±2.30 in the physical domain, 14.18±2.39 in the mental domain, 13.03±3.62 in the social domain, and 13.32±2.92 in the environmental domain. During the Covid 19 epidemic, it was found that there was a positive, moderate relationship between the total score of the pregnant women and the mean scores of all sub-domains of the quality of life, and this relationship was statistically significant (p=0.000). Conclusion: It has been concluded that the spiritual well-being of pregnant women is at a good level during the Covid 19 epidemic process and the quality of life of pregnant women increases as their spiritual well-being increases. Those who are in the 36-42 age group, have civil and religious marriages together, have health insurance, live in a nuclear family type, their spouses are between 36-50 years old, their spouses are working, have no discomfort during pregnancy, smoke 1-15 cigarettes a day, regularly pregnant women who have health check-ups, do not have any idea about the adequacy of the training they receive regarding the pregnancy period, have a positive relationship with their spouse, are supported by their spouses and social environment, are not surrounded by people with Covid-19, and do not have anxiety about themselves and their baby due to Covid-19. It was found that the mean score of Spiritual Well-Being Scale was statistically higher (p<0.005). Keywords: Covid-19, Midwifery care, Pregnancy, Spiritual well-being, Quality of life.
