The influences of Dalcroze teaching method at the preschool music education on the improvement of social skill of students

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Dalcroze pre-school music education approach on the development of social skills of students. The study group consisted of 40 randomly selected experimental and control groups among 4-6 age group students studying in a private kindergarten affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Balıkesir in the 2017-2018 academic year. In the study, "Social Skills Assessment Scale (4-6 years) developed by Avcıoğlu (2005) was completed by preschool teachers of children before and after music education for each of the 40 students. The experimental process of the study lasted for 8 weeks and the course activities were recorded twice a week using a 30-minute Dalcroze teaching method. With the Dalcroze teaching method was givenpre-school music, movement and dance education. Music education was given to the students in the control group and these students continued their general education in the school. At the end of all studies, post-tests for experimental and control groups were applied. As a result of processing the data obtained; According to the Dalcroze teaching method, pre-school music education is more than Interpersonal Communication, Controlling Anger Behavior and Adapting to Changes, Verbal Explanation, Listening, Task Completion and Accepting Results" social skills compared to preschool children aged 4-6 and various recommendations were made based on the results obtained. This research; As an experimental study, it is important to determine the effect of music education to students' social skills by using Dalcroze teaching method.
