Abstract (EN)

For the last ten years the TV series and films about military coups in Turkish history has been increased. From the 2000s on, the interest of the audience in the TV series produced from the subjects of 27 May 1960 coup, 12 Mart 197 memorandum and 12 September 1980 coup, caused new cinema films to be produced. Interest in the Cinema Films is as much as it is in the TV series.In the cinema films and TV series, the oppressive system formed during and after the coups, the lives of people mentally and physically destroyed in questioning during the coups has been presented from a criticizing point of view.The reason why so much interest has been shown for the cinema films and TV series was that point of view. Moreover the importance of providing a community memory of the near political history which was missing caused the cinema films and TV series become more popular. New generation learns about the military coups and the political, social and economical reasons causing those coups through those films and series.Keywords: Military coup, politics, movies and series, social memory.
