The Avifauna of Diyarbakır Çınar-Göksu dam

SUMMARY This study was carried out at Çınar-Göksu Dam and its near surroundings which is approximately 40 km. southeast of Diyarbakır city center ( 37° 55' N, 40° 12' E ) By omithologgically observations made between 1 August 1998 and 1 August 1999, it was aimed to reveal existing situation of bird species in the region. The observations was made two days in a week during reproduction season, and once a week at the other times. They were extended from the earliest times of morning to noon hours. During study, a total number of 56 observations were made. Study areas were consisted of the dam coast, agriculturel fields right next to dam and the small coppice at the northeast of dam. During study whole area was observed regularly with field glasses or without any instrument. In the study region 141 bird species of 16 ordos and 44 different families, 65 of them belonging to Passeriformes groupe, were determined. It was ascertained that 18 of these species are native at our region, 21 winter, 69 summer, and 20 are transitory migrants. The states of 13 species could not be explained fully. It was proved that a total number of 85 species are under threat of danger, and according to Red Data Book crieterias, 5 of these are at the state of A.I.2., 20 A.2, 26 A3., 23 A.4., 7 B.2. and the remaining 4 species at B.3.. 16 of species that were observed in the study region were obsulately, 71 were probably breeding and 54 species were wing the region during, migration to be nourished or the accommodate. 97 species that were reported as exting in the region were nest came across by our side during study. Moreover, 9 bird species that were stated as native in variosus scientific sources were found as winter migrants in our study. Tables indicating the situation of species one by one, seasonal dispertion, birds statutes and total individual numbers were presented and some suggestions were done concerning protection of bird special existence.
