Abstract (EN)

Postpartum period is a significant transition period in which physical, emotional and social changes occur in parents. Postpartum period parents' efforts to adapt new life conditions and roles due to the changes affect the sense of security and state anxiety. This research was conducted to examine the reationship between mothers and fathers' sense of security and state anxiety in postpartum. The research was conducted in descriptive-correlational type. Sample of the research consists of 88 mothers and 88 fathers in postpartum period who gave birth in a hospital located in Konya city centre. Survey form for mothers and survey form for fathers created by the researcher, mothers' postpartum sense of security scale, fathers' postpartum sense of security scale, state anxiety inventory were used to collect data. Mann-Whitney U, Kruskall Wallis H, Pearson Correlation Analysis, Sperman's rho correlation analysis, linear regression analysis were used while analysing the data. 43,2% of the postpartum parents' education status in primary education. It is the first pregnancy of 35,2% of the mothers and 64,8% of them planned their pregnancy. It was found that Mothers's Sense of Security Scale and State Anxiety Inventory had a negative aspect and a meaninful relationship (p< .001). It was found that Fathers' Sense of Security Scale and State Anxiety Inventory had a negative aspect and a meaningful relationship (p< .001). It was determined that there is a positive aspect and a meaningful relationship in the sense of security between mothers and fathers (p< .001). While it was settled that there is a positive aspect and a meaningful relationship between mothers' and fathers' state anxiety levels (p< .001), it was also found that there is a negative aspect and a meaningful relationship between mothers' and fathers' sense of security and state anxiety inventory (p< .001). It was specified that mothers' postpartum sense of security levels makes their state anxiety levels predictable in a negative and meaningful level ( β = -,779, p < ,001). It was specified that fathers' postpartum sense of security levels makes their state anxiety levels predictable in a negative and meaningful level ( β = -,466, p < ,005). Mothers' sense of security clarifies the 52,4% variance in their state anxiety levels and fathers' sense of security clarifies 24,3% of their state anxiety levels. Consequently, it was found that there is a negative aspect and meaningful degree between postpartum mothers' and fathers' sense of security levels and state anxiety levels. In accordance with these results, in the postpartum period, it can be recommended to increase scannings of the sense of security and state anxiety carried out by nurses in their care process and education, to evaluate the circumstance based on the results of the scannings and to plan care based on the family.
