Abstract (EN)

Electronic sports operate by attracting attention and developing at the same time by young people in today's technological age. In this study, it was aimed to compare students studying in sports sciences and electronic sports players in terms of visual and auditory reaction time and hit accuracy parameters. 30 students (male=15 and female=15) studying in sports sciences and 30 electronic sports players (male=15 and female=15) professionally engaged in e-sports participated in the research voluntarily. A computer was used to measure the visual and auditory reaction time and accuracy values. In the research, the website www.humanbenchmark.com was used to determine the visual reaction time and hit accuracy values, and the website www.new.cognitivefun.net was used to measure the auditory reaction time. Hit accuracy was measured once, auditory and visual reaction tests were measured five times, and the average of the results was recorded in milliseconds (ms). Volunteers used their dominant hand to administer the tests. Evaluation of data was done with IBM SPSS 22.0 statistical program. In the statistical analysis of the study, the evaluated variables were defined with arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage and number values. Parametric tests were applied to the data obtained in the analysis of the data, since the skewness and kurtosis values did not exceed the range of -1 to +1. Electronic sports players and sports science students were compared with independent samples t-test. When the parameters were examined according to gender, no significant difference was found, but a positive significant difference was found between the sports science students and electronic sports players in the parameters of accuracy values compared to the electronic sports players (p<0.05). As a result, while electronic sports players had similar results with sports science students in visual and auditory reaction times, it was observed that sports science students were slower in hit accuracy times than electronic sports players.
