The relationship of hormone receptors, P53, Kİ-67, serum cancer antigen 125 with the stage of the disease and prognosis in endometrium cancer

Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the expression levels of hormone receptors, Ki 67, p53 and serum cancer antigen 125 levels in endometrial cancer and clinicopathological risk factors, and determines their prognostic values. Material and methods: This retrospective study included 169 patients with endometrial cancer whose estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor , Ki-67 and p53 expression levels were determined through immunohistochemical methods, and whose preoperative serum CA 125 levels were measured. These factors relationship with various clinicopathological factors, progression-free survival and overall survival was investigated. Results: The study included 169 patients with EC with a mean age of 58,5 ± 8,3 years. The rate of HR positivity was significantly higher in the endometrioid histology group than the non-endometroid histology group (p = 0.000). A high level of Ki-67 expression was found to be associated with a high grade tumors (p = 0.000), and Mİ with > 50% (p= 0,021 ), LVSİ positivity (p =0.007), cervical and adnexial invasion (p=0,040) and a high p53 expression were found to be associated with a high grade tumors (p = 0.026). A positive correlation was found between p53 and Ki-67, ER and PR, CA 125 and tumor diemeter , a negative correlation was found between p53 and PR, ER and tumor diemeter , PR and CA 125 . Significant relationship was found between progression-free survival and figo stage, > 50% myometrial invasion, and tumor diameter more than 4 cm. There was no significant difference in overall survival and selected all groups in the study. Conclusions: While HR positivity indicates favorable clinicopathological prognostic factors, high Ki-67 and high p53 expression indicate unfavorable ones. However, no direct effect of these factors on prognosis was found in this study. Key words: endometrial cancer; prognosis; hormone receptor; ki67; p53; CA125
