Individuals of adolescence investigation of the relationship between trends of substance use and self-efficacy beliefs

This research was conducted to determine the relationship between substance use tendencies of adolescents and self-efficacy beliefs. The strength of self-efficacy beliefs of adolescents creates a protective factor against adolescent substance use and it is aimed to contribute to studies about developing self-efficacy beliefs of adolescent individuals in future studies. For this purpose, 206 individuals in the adolescent age group, aged between 12 and 22, who were randomly selected in the province of Istanbul, formed the sample of the study. In the study, ın Personal Information Form was used to evaluate the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants, the 'Item Use Tendency Scale madde and the' Self-efficacy Scale ın of the participants. SPSS 25 statistical analysis program was used in the evaluation and analysis of the collected data. The findings of the study show that the participants' tendency to use drugs is high and their self-efficacy beliefs are medium to medium-high. There was no positive correlation between self-efficacy belief and substance use tendencies. However, it was observed that the high substance use tendencies of the participants did not change according to parental attitude, family income level, parent education level sub-variables. According to this result, it was emphasized that the need to investigate the substance use tendencies of adolescents should be investigated more comprehensively.
