The relationship between opioid and alcohol use disorder and childhood traumas in male AMATEM patients

The first use of opioid and alcohol substances is encountered in the field of medicine and in the treatment of various diseases. Opioids and alcohol abuse have increased in time in the world and also in Turkey. There are many factors that trigger the abuse of these substances. Abuse and neglect experienced in childhood are also among these factors. The effects of neglect and abuse during childhood are called childhood traumas. Traumas experienced in childhood are examined in five different types: emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, economic abuse and neglect. In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of childhood traumas on opioid and alcohol abuse. In order to achieve the aforementioned goal, a research model called questionnaire was used. The study was conducted with a total of 60 male participants, 30 of them alcohol addicts and 30 of them opioid addicts. 18 of the individuals in the research sample are between 20-30 years old, 15 of them are between 31-40 years old, 9 of them are between 41-50 years old, 14 of them are between 51-60 years old, and 4 of them are between 60+ years old. In this context, the majority of participants in the study are individuals between the ages of 20-30. According to the data obtained from the study, it was observed that sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, emotional neglect, physical neglect experienced during childhood had an effect on the addiction profile. According to the research conducted at the end of the study, a significant relationship was found between the use of opioids and alcohol in addicted patients and childhood traumas, and it is expected to shed light on future studies and to be developed. By increasing the sample of the study, more reliable results can be obtained.
