Abstract (EN)

Skepticism, an approach seen in the first known representatives of Ancient Greece, undermines the trust that human beings have in the sources of information they have and leads human beings to agnosticism. Our thesis titled "Approach of Early Ahl al-Sunnah Kalam to Agnostic Movements" aims to agnosticism as a behavior that leads to two different types of skeptical movements and focuses on the problem of knowledge. Firstly, absolute skepticism, which uses the arguments created by the sophist and skeptic representatives in Ancient Greece, and secondly, gnostic skepticism, which sees it necessary to be subject to gnosis, a special knowlage brought by the chosen redeemer, by shaking the trust in thinking and bring evidence, which are the ways of obtaining knowledge. Our thesis deals with the problems of knowledge and the approaches developed by the figures of the Ahl al-Sunnah, from the formation process of kalam to al-Ghazali, towards al-Sufistā'iyya as the representatives of the absolute skeptical approach and towards the heretic Shiite sects, especially al-Bātiniyya, as the representatives of the gnostic skeptical approach.
