Abstract (EN)

Femur fractures are becoming a health problem day by day in the world and in our country. In this cross-sectional and descriptive study, it was aimed to determine the self-care power of patients who underwent surgery for femur fractures. The study was collected from 80 orthopedic patients between 01.01.2023 and 01.04.2023 in a training and research hospital in Istanbul, using a face-to-face questionnaire and a self-care power scale. All data were analyzed by saving them to the SPSS (statistical package for social sciences) Windows 22 program on the computer. In the volunteer patients included in the study; It is stated that female gender and unmarried people are in the majority, while the number of literate and illiterate people in education is high. It is seen that there are more housewives in the profession category and the average age is 74.15. It was determined that most of the patients participating in the study had chronic disease/diseases and the most common diagnosis of these chronic diseases was hypertension. All patients who underwent surgery for femoral fractures state that they are semi-dependent or fully dependent. The self-care power scale score average is 74.95. As a result, the power of self-care; It was determined that gender, occupation and education level affected, on the other hand, marital status, continuous drug use, previous orthopedic surgery, chronic diseases and disability in daily life activities before femur fracture, age and length of hospital stay did not affect self-care power.
