Abstract (EN)

The research examines the integrated process steps focused on the physical prototyping phase that the Industrial Design Discipline cooperates with and directs under the new product identity positioning process. In addition, it defines the basic role of the design stages in the new product identity modelling processes with an education focus. The terms "rapid prototyping" and "product identity design" in the research are matched with "industrial product design" activities. The main areas of interdisciplinary process development of education and industry applications are the practice areas of education, and industry applications where 'prototyping↔user experience ',' new product identity ↔user experience' and 'industrial product design discipline↔ industrial product design education 'are matched. In addition, the contribution of the reflection of different methods in the identity modelling of the new product designed in manufacturing industry applications to academic education is the basic framework of the research. In the study, the steps followed by the design activities in the manufacturing industry are defined and the product identity modelling stages are examined with the result-oriented (industrial product design stages ↔ rapid prototyping effect ↔ user experience ↔ new product identity) under the physical prototyping preference of the new product. Field study of the thesis; 25 students who developed a project and product identity in industrial product design education, which lasted for one semester (14 weeks) in the academic calendar, a department employee (7 engineers in product development) and a design department (3 designer)and 5 company managers, together with the 5 company includes research on product range design. The functional meaning, conceptualization, definitions and testing of the product identity formed with the new product development constitute the basic development structure of the industrial product design activities. In this sense, all the criteria included in the holistic structure, including the production process related to the effectiveness of the new product identity modelling steps or the performance of the new product design stages, result in physical prototype manufacturing. In the study, new product identity modelling was evaluated under the interaction of three different main development steps. In the first part, project definitions that are transferred to students in industrial product design education are created. In the second stage, the opinions of the product identity specializations in cooperation with the design activities of the participant firm's product development department were evaluated. In the third step, user experience and customer test studies are also included. In the last stage, design activities and rapid prototyping relationships were also examined.
