Konowledge-power relationship in Jabiri in the context of foucault

When knowledge and power are mentioned, two halves of a whole that complement each other come to mind. Social and historical processes show us that either knowledge creates power or power produces knowledge to consolidate its dominance over individuals. Michel Foucault is one of the first thinkers to come to mind in studies on the relations between knowledge and power in the 20th century. With his unique method, he critically analyzes the history of Western thought both epistemologically and in terms of power. In the studies on the search for innovation of Arab/Islamic thought, the effects of Western thought have been tried to be revealed by Contemporary Islamic thinkers. There have been many different arguments in Contemporary Islamic Thought, which has lasted for about three centuries. One of these arguments belongs to Mohammed Abed al-Jabri, a name with a critical and productive mindset of the 20th century. He tries to put forward his criticisms and proposals for solution towards Arab/Islamic thought with a Foucauldian method. As a matter of fact, this study deals with Jabri's philosophical investigation of the knowledge-power relationship in Arab/Islamic thought in the context of Foucault. The Islamic world needs a new epistemological structure to get rid of the current negative situation it is in. For this, the epistemological ground, that is, the mechanisms that produce thought rather than thought itself, must be changed. This requires the analysis of the relations of epistemologies in Islamic thought with power. Aiming to analyze the relationship between knowledge and power by moving from a critical rationality, Jabri builds his restructuring proposal on this analysis. While doing this, he sees no harm in making use of the ways Western thought has passed and the concepts it has used. In this study, I discussed Jabri's concerns about how Arab/Islamic thought should get rid of the static structure it is in, both epistemologically and politically, and his effort to overcome this problematic, by discussing it from Foucault's perspective.
