Abstract (EN)

Due to the harmful effects of the copper material used as brake friction composite, research shows that new materials need to be studied. In this regard, the composite materials used in brake pads were examined one by one in terms of their properties and their effects on the friction characteristics of a pad were investigated. As a result of the literature studies, materials in proportions that were thought to be efficient were determined preliminary tests were carried out and the lining composite materials were included in the selection. Fe-Al alloy was chosen as a material that can replace copper due to its good thermal conductivity, its potential to take on the task of thermal stability instead of copper, and its friction characteristics at the optimum level in the lining. Two samples of %4 and %12 were obtained and mixed with copper samples of the same proportions. compared. A base sample was produced in which both copper and Fe-Al alloys were not included in the pad, and the pad efficiencies were referenced according to this sample. According to the results obtained in this thesis study, in which a total of 5 brake pad samples were produced and tested, the copper sample showed a %12 decrease in friction coefficient while being %4 efficient. The Fe-Al alloy, which was desired to replace copper, provided more efficient results than copper samples and ensured the positive course of the study. The pad sample with the best friction coefficient was the one containing %4 Fe-Al and contributed to efficient braking by providing thermal conductivity at high temperatures and keeping the temperature of the pad at an optimum level.
