Football fanatizm, supporter identify: Supportersof beşi̇ktaş çarşi, examination of fan behaviours

This study is done to examine identity of a fan group of Besiktas soccer club known Besiktas Carsi and evaluate fans behavior related to the team and to understand the reasons of becoming fans. The research is done in 2013-2014 with a questionnaire applied to 500 (181 female, 319 male) members of Besiktas Carsi. The questionnaire consist of demographic question related to members fanship and their connectivity to the club. The collected data is studied and answers grouped in percentage, than mean, standard deviation and frequency distribution are obtained. By comparing mean and standard deviations the results are commented. SPSS 18.0 is used. For unrelated samples Independent Samples T-Test, One-Way Anova are used while pearson correlation method is used for correlated samples. The results suggest that; as the fans become more connected to the team, the less fair play they are and fair-play and being gentle are in inversely proportional with fanaticism. The younger the fans are, the more fanatic they are, hence they are more inclined to violence. The results also show that the success and history of the club, symbols and emblems used by club are important argument to become fan of the club.
