An investigation on Gaziantep memorates

It is seen that there has not been an academic study in Gaziantep about the memorates that are in the daily life, which take place today or in the near future and that contain the traditions, belief structure and lifestyle of the society they are told. For this reason, the main purpose of this study was to put forward an academic study on Gaziantep memorates. In this study, in order to prove that the memorate is an individual species, the differences between the other verbal narrative types and the classification of the memorates compiled from the center of Gaziantep were made and the texts of the memorates compiled under each classification title. In the continuation of the study, narrator and execution contexts of Gaziantep memorates, listeners of Gaziantep memorates and the perception of the message were evaluated. With the analysis of Gaziantep memorate texts in terms of Context / Execution (Performance) centered theories and methods, firstly the functional, then contextual, narrative, listener and space dimensions of the texts were evaluated.
