Perception of ethnic identity among young people the case of Diyarbakır

This thesis examines and evaluates the formation processes of the ethnic identity perceptions of the youth living in Diyarbakır and the effects of this perception from a sociological perspective. Social changes and transformations experienced in Diyarbakır in the historical process; the effects of these processes in terms of individuals and their identities are discussed. Socio-cultural and socio-economic processes that are not independent from each other are discussed in connection with sociology. Thesis; It deals with the history of Diyarbakır, its political processes and changes. In this, we benefit from the fields of history, politics and economy; evaluated sociologically. In this way, evaluations were made in the light of the information obtained in terms of the shaping of perceptions of young people in cases of exclusion and inclusion. The actors in the application area of the thesis include young people between the ages of 18-30 living in the four central districts of Diyarbakır, Yenişehir, Sur, Kayapınar and Bağlar. Semi-structured interview technique was applied over the application interview form. Thus, the general profile of the youth in Diyarbakır about the perception of ethnic identity was formed.
