The use of botany in contemporary art

This study is focused on the definition of botany as a science with a general overview of plants and botany, the importance of plants for the earth and human life, their relations with various cultural and religious beliefs and rituals, and the place of the plant form in art has been examined through specific examples from the past to the present, as a result of research in the field of pharmaceuticals, the plant is also seen as an artistic form in various manuscripts and books and works of art, with scientific or symbolic expressions. In addition to scientific illustrations, the place of the plant in the art of painting and plant representations are mainly shown with examples from western art. Before the 19th and 20th centuries, plants, which found a place for themselves with more general symbolic expressions before the 19th and 20th centuries, evolved into more individual or social symbols since these centuries, and in line with the social, scientific and cultural developments since the 20th century, the ways and reflections of botany in artworks have been examined, their effects today have been reviewed, contemporary examples of works from different artistic disciplines that have focused on this subject have been explored, and the role of the plant and plant form in art in the context of environment, ecosystem and sustainability in today's art has been investigated. The study was concluded by analyzing my works by establishing a connection with historical examples from the past to the present through plants, which have been the main elements of my artistic works for a while.
