Abstract (EN)

Purpose: Detecting changes of pulse rate, arterial blood pressures, splancnic and serebral oxygen saturation index, arterial oxygen saturation during endotracheal suctioning on patients who need ventilatory support in GÜTF Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Patients And Method: It is a prospective study which made between July 2012-December 2012 on patients who require mechanical ventilation support on GÜTF Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. rSO2, rBO2, pulse rate and arterial saturation values were measured during endotracheal suctioning, during one minute before and after suctioning. Systolic, diastolic, mean blood pressures before suctioning on 30 th second and after suctioning on 90 th second were measured. Before 10 seconds of suctioning, FiO2 level was increased to %100 and preoxygenation was provided during 10 seconds . FiO2 level returned to baseline value on 130 th second. Swallow aspiration was made during 10 seconds. All data were analysed with SPSS 11.5 program p<0.05 was considered as statitistically significant. Results: There was no statistically differance on rSO2, rBO2, pulse rate and arterial oxygen saturation during and after suctioning. There was statistically significant increase on systolic, diastolic and mean arterial blood pressures after suctioning. Most significant decrease on rSO2 and rBO2 became on 80 th second; most sigificant decrease on arterial oxygen saturation and most significant increase on pulse rate became on 90 th second. rSO2 and rBO2 were decreased 10 seconds before SO2. Conclusion: Standard endotracheal suctioning method doesn?t deteriorate rSO2, rBO2, SO2 and pulse rate. NIRS detects changes of oxygenation before than intensive care monitor.
